Ara PacisThe Ara Pacis in Rome

What is the exhibiton about?

From the 2nd of July, until the 15th November 2015, work on the Portus Project and the current progress of years of ongoing collaboration between the University of Southampton and ArtasMedia, will be featured in the Ara Pacis museum in Rome as part of the Milan EXPO 2015. Shots of the Trajanic harbour, specifically show-casing the structures of the Imperial Palace, Navalia and Grandi Magazzini Di Settimio Severo have been integrated into a larger piece of storytelling in collaboration with an Italian team of artists working alongside L’Erma di Bretschneider. The animations will narrate the journey of grain throughout the Roman Empire when Portus served as its major port.

Going to Rome?

If you find yourself in Rome this summer and are interested in Roman history, please go and take a look at the exhibition. However, if you can’t take a quick trip to Rome, fear not, for images of the gallery and behind the scenes footage from my trip to Battipaglia to oversee the final touches to the archaeological representations will be shared, a taster of which is below. So, keep your eyes peeled in the coming weeks as ArtasMedia’s role in the Ara Pacis exhibition will be explored in more detail.
