The Thorness Bay wreck is the remains of an unidentified wooden merchant sailing ship. The ship is carvel in construction with a system of double framing fastened by copper bolts. The design and construction characteristics, as well as the artefactual evidence found on the wreck suggest it is from a period from the mid to late 19th century.
To create the Web Tour, a CGI model was created in 3DS Max using survey data and illustration from the site. This was then lit using virtual diver helmet lights to recreate the atmospheric nature of the site for the non diving public.
